Some Problems with Tanning Lotions
The price of a bottle of tanning lotion really has little to do with the resulting tan on the wearer. That is because different skin types will react differently depending on what ingredients each formula contains. Some people will discover that even the top indoor tanning lotions might cause their skin to react poorly usually due to some allergic reaction. While this is usually seen as a minor problem with indoor tanning lotion, there are other issues that some people have with such products.
A common issue that particularly cheap indoor tanning lotions had with consumers was the odor. The most common complaint was the chemical scent that these lotions left on their skin sometimes before and sometimes after the tanning session. The solution to this problem as suggested by some people is to apply the lotion late in the evening and allow it to sit on your skin over night. Then shower the following morning to clean off the scent.
Newer products have been improved to eliminate these odors while other attempted to cover them up by adding different scents to their formula. The problem with that solution is that some male customers might be turned off by the typical flowery scents used. For that reason there are lotions that are marketed toward men simply because of their cologne-like scents. Some manufacturers even have taken the scent issue another level by providing some level of aromatherapy in their lotion to make the tanning lotion a better experience for their users.
There are still some people who cannot use tanning lotion because their skin is already heavily damaged or aged. Sometimes freckled skins are particularly sensitive to certain chemicals and cannot stand being exposed to UV rays for any amount of time. These skin types are best left alone or can be tinted temporarily by fake tanners. DHA based tanning lotions will force the dead skin cells to change colors producing a fake tanned appearance.
